Our Design of the Month for November 2026 on a 100% organic cotton t-shirt fitted for women/femmes, and supporting grassroots labour unions in South Asia.
While mainstream history often frames the Vietnam-era peace movement as a clash between elite, college-educated campus protesters and working-class soldiers, there was actually deep, systemic resistance brewing inside the U.S. military itself.
Through an underground network of civilian-run community spaces, The FTA Tour connected directly with active-duty troops. The military draft system overwhelmingly targeted working-class kids, the children of farmers, and blue-collar workers who couldn't afford college deferments. Banned from performing on military bases, the FTA troupe staged explosive, satirical shows combining comedy, live music, and skits right outside them—eventually performing for over 64,000 troops across the Pacific Rim.
The tour and its accompanying 1972 documentary gave a vital platform to the stories of anti-racist resistance (like the Fort Hood 43) and working-class enlisted women facing both sexism and class exploitation. The movement proved so threatening to the establishment that the Nixon White House pressured distributors to pull the documentary from theaters just a week after its release, burying it for nearly 50 years.
Our design reimagines Fonda’s iconic Barbarella era through the lens of her real-world defiance—capturing the moment a pop-culture icon chose solidarity with the working-class troops over Hollywood comfort. The tour’s slogan is of more relevance than ever given the increased militarism and imperial ambitions by the USA and other big powers.
