DOTM Jul 2023: Spanish Revolution

It celebrates the Spanish revolution of July 1936. In response to a right-wing coup by general Francisco Franco, workers across Spain took up arms and launched one of the most far-reaching social revolutions in history. The ensuing civil war pitted the working class against the Spanish capitalists, who were backed by Germany and Italy.
Design by tattoo artist Ysabel Shrapnel. Ysa let herself be inspired by the style of leaflets and posters of the time. The woman's sleeve bears the logos of the Confederación Nacional del Trabajo (C.N.T.) and the Federación Anarquista Ibérica (F.A.I.) both of which played a crucial role in the Spanish Revolution.
